Abstract

ABSTRACT
Saudi Arabia leads a unique approach to preserve its rich heritage by integrating traditional Saudi architecture into modern urban and architectural design. This approach is evident in modern architecture designs inspired by heritage and culture of the place, which brings a unique and distinctive character that promotes identity. Several designers created unique designs that blend the past and the future harmoniously. This paper aims to study modern architecture in Aseer Region by analyzing the design elements of a number of modern projects designs inspired by the concept of blending the authenticity of the past and the technology of the future. The study first part examines the elements of traditional architecture in Aseer Region: Building form, facade design, openings, architectural details, building techniques, local materials, colors and decorations in interior design. Through an analysis of new projects, this research selected three case studies to analyze how cultural identity has been integrated and how it evolved into buildings. The results demonstrate that heritage and innovation in architecture with authentic local cultural identity can significantly improve the built environment.
